NO UNITY – NO VOICE – NO FISH!
On our meeting day last June 21st, we lost two good members. Bob Watson and Gil Wagner passed away that day. Both will be missed for they were good members of our fishing club. Bob will be missed because he was our Vice President and put our club’s fishing trips together. Look on our web site (mssadorchester.com) under what’s new for a full story. Anytime you visit our website, always check out “What’s New” first. Remember that this website is your site. Visit it often for what is going on in your fishing club.
NEW TELEPHONE NUMBER
I, Clint Waters, have a new home phone number. I have improved all my communication activities and had to get a new phone number. The new number is 443-225-5545.
FISHING
The weather is hot and fishing is not as hot as the weather. I personally have not been out that much since our last club meeting. With Bob Watson’s funeral and new systems in my home, I haven’t had the opportunity to fish that much. In the Chesapeake Bay area it’s hit or miss with more miss than hit. You really have to know what you’re doing to have a good day of fishing. From the people I’ve talked to, you have to fish really early in the morning or late in the evening to have a good fishing trip. The only good report I’ve heard is from Chuck Prahl. He says the shoreline fishing in the Choptank is over, however livelining Spot for Rockfish is the thing to do. Don’t use chum for that is messy and a waste of Menhaden. So go bottom fishing for Spot then go catch some decent Rockfish, livelining. The ocean seems to be where the good fishing is. Everyone I’ve talked to has done well fishing in the ocean. Be at the meeting on Thursday to find out about where the fishing is the best. That is one of the best features of our fishing club. The fishing reports from our members.
M.A.R.I. Maryland Artificial Reef Initiative
This project is moving forward very fast now. M.A.R.I. has laid a good amount of material at the Point No Point reef site and now are moving up the Bay to Tangier Sound and Cove Point. The Taylors Island, Gooses and Air Plane wreck sites are still on the list.
We need to support this project more for it will affect our area very much. You can purchase a ton of material for $25.00. I will have donation forms at our meeting. We need to come up with ideas to help fund this project. I will give a full report at our meeting.
GUEST SPEAKER
Our speaker this month is Jay Hartford. His topic is “Why Are There No Fishfinders?” Jay is a sonar expert. He has worked in this field for a lot of years and is a member of our Chapter 11. Jay will talk on different types of Sonar as under, to the side and around our boat as we fish. He will show us how technology has ruined our depth finders and the way they do and do not mark fish. This is a must meeting if you have a fish finder on your boat or are thinking about purchasing one.
See you at the meeting or on the water.
Clint
