ATTENTION – VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Starting at our March 19th meeting we will have our monthly meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of every month instead of the the 3rd Thursday. This came about with an agreement with the American Legion and their schedules. So, please remark or mark your calendars for our monthly meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of each month except December, for we have no meeting. The meetings will still start at 7:30 p.m. 3RD WEDNESDAY OF EACH MONTH.
FISHING
There is not much to report on however Chuck Prahl assures everyone that March 10th is the day White Perch start their run and everything should follow-up after that. It’s that time of the year to get your fishing gear and boats ready for some great fishing coming up. Come to the meeting to find out where all the fish are.
FLEA MARKET
I want to thank all the volunteers and everyone that supported our flea market this year. A big thanks to Chuck Prahl for all his time putting this event together. It was our most successful flea market ever. We had plenty of vendors who had some really good bargains with plenty of merchandise to choose from. We had almost 100 more people come to this market. We met our budget plans for the year. One of our members won the fish finder unit we gave away that was donated by MID-SHORE ELECTRONICS. Joe Camp won the unit, congratulations Joe. Again thanks to everyone for all their support.
We also signed up 32 memberships at the flea market. Here again check your expiration dates on your cards and mailing labels. MSSA is still giving away a fishing trip for six people that renew or for new members. Don’t let your membership expire.
MSSA SPRING TOURNAMENT
The MSSA Spring Tournament is May 2, 3, and 4th. I will have plenty of tournament booklets at our meeting so you can check out all the rules and get your questions answered. This year’s tournament should be the biggest payout the MSSA has ever had. The biggest fish last year weighed 48.65 pounds and the biggest winner won $50,220 dollars. This year should be even bigger. If you haven’t signed up, get a crew together and join in for fun, adventure and money.
YEAR LONG TOURNAMENT
We have decided that all fish that you catch are eligible for this tournament. It will be the honor system. If you catch a large fish of any species, take a picture on or by a ruler for verification. Bring the picture to our meeting or drop it off at the Recreation Center where we reviewed fish last year and while you’re there, get 10% off fishing supplies from Kenny or John.
GUEST SPEAKER
We have a surprise this month. Capt. Dave Schauber will be our speaker. Dave is the captain of the boat “SAWYER” out of Rippons Marina on Hoopers Island. Dave is coming in one hour earlier (6:30) before our regular meeting starts. He will have a video of his fishing trips and answer your question on trolling, jigging and bottom fishing in the Chesapeake Bay area. Here comes the surprise - our club will supply a hot dog on a bun with all the trimmings to everyone who comes to the meeting. Capt. Schauber will also speak at the regular meeting. Here is a chance to get your questions answered and learn about fishing on the bay. Don’t miss this meeting.
See you at the meeting or on the water.
Clint
P.S. ROD AND REEL COMBO RAFFLE
Most of the proceeds from this raffle will support Maryland Artificial Reef Institute (M.A.R.I.). Again, this year you have a choice between the spinning, level wind or trolling rod and reel combos. For those receiving a newsletter, you will have six tickets attached to your newsletter. Try to buy or sell them for $5.00. For those receiving your newsletter by email if you would do so, please send a check for $5.00 made out to MSSA Dorchester and I will see that six tickets are put in your name. All I’m wishing is that every member give $5.00 to support your chapter and the M.A.R.I. project. You could win a great fishing combo.
