Does any member have any ideas of activities they'd like to see the Dorchester Chapter do in 2006.  Contact Clint Waters by Email or phone to include your ideas.

If you would like me to list your ideas here on the net, please Email me and I will do so crediting you or it can be anonymous.

My ideas to get the ball rolling:  ( Curt Brandt )

Kids 3 hour fishing tournament on the Choptank Bridge to promote the MSSA and DORCHESTER CHAPTER ( definitely need chapter membership involvement ( and  DNR if possible, to make kids aware of laws / regulations / presence to instill trust and give away their free handouts ) to help some of the lil fisherman and women bait and unsnag lines, just keep a general eye on everyone / work the event.  I'm willing to contribute the first $100 dollars towards purchasing prizes for the fishermen/women of the various age groups ( 3 - 8, 9 - 15, 16 - 18 ?? ) I think there should be drawings during the event every 45 minutes ( lures, gift certificates, etc ) to add to the excitement for these contestants.  It's all open to discussion.

I'm sure we could find nice rod/reel combos at cost + to give away to the 1st place finishers, maybe nice Plano tackle boxes / bags to the 2nd place finishers and a good assortment of boat and shoreline fishing lures for the 3rd place finishers.  I think MSSA Headquarters should be asked to donate hats or shirts to go with the 1st place finishers of each division.  That all sounds like MORE THAN a 100 dollars ;)

There would be a running tally board of the person / species / size / time ( for tie breaking ) kept at the registration point.

There would be a Sponsor Board set up at the registration point only indicating those people / businesses who contributed - from bait to prizes to bag lunches.

A chapter flotilla of <>20' fishin' boats sticking together for a day of fishing, extending an invitation by phone and mail to all  our members / especially those who don't have boats or have trouble getting out due to transportation or physical restraints be picked up, to meet and go fishing with the club for the day ( maybe with a $5 per boat donation to the first boat catching / landing a keeper Rockfish amongst them ).  Club would provide a case of bottled drinking water to each boats cooler.

Contact Clint if you have any activities you'd like to see the chapter do  in 2006.  phone 410-376-3563  They will be discussed at the regular meetings.

September 1, 2005  -  Charlestown RiverFest

Saturday September 10th is the date for the Historic Charlestown 3rd
Annual MSSA Kid's Fishing Tournament to kick off RiverFest. The Mariner Magazine is the sponsor again this year and they have some nice prizes for the first three places in each age group. The MSSA has been displayed prominently in the magazine ads and I was told there would be more in the next Mariner.

RiverFest will be bigger and longer this year. They start off on
Thursday night the 9th with carnival rides that go on until Sunday. The
parade starts at noon on Saturday and the fireworks are Saturday night.  There is a motorcycle competition and show on Sunday as well as all the food and craft booths.   The Northern Bay Booth is next to the boat ramp at Water Street. We will be there for Saturday only so come on down and visit or work the booth with us for a while. The tournament gates open at 8:00 and fishing is from 9:00 to 11:00. The Northern Bays MSSA provides tackle and bait and it is open to kids from 4 to 16 and it is all free.

For details give me a call 410-982-2392 and we hope to see you there!

WEBMASTER'S COMPUTER HAS FAILED.. site had to be rebuilt on another computer, thus there will be some changes in the appearance, seems one can never completely duplicate one's first endeavors.  It's really easier to start over, but I copied / pasted our site back.  The bigger obvious changes of course are the header and menu.  Working with the menu has been the greatest difficulty for some unknown reason, and I hope to put it back to the way it was eventually, but for now, please use the links at teh the bottom of each page to navigate around without going HOME all the time.  Each hit HOME, adds another visitor.  I'll work on it.  The older links on this page below will not work and since they are not a priority, I will work on them a day at a time till I have the pages linked back with the statement.  AND .. "I HAVE A DELL, Dude."

There is a good editorial by Chris Knauss in the Mariner dated August 5, 2005, concerning the Greenpeace peaceful demonstration at Reedville, Va., about the behind the scenes movement in the press boat.
