DORCHESTER MSSA CHAPTER 11 FISHING CLUB ____________________________________________________________
Next Meeting - Thursday,
November 17th, 2005 ____________________________________________________________ President and Secretary -
Clint Waters Chapter Flea Market - Chuck Prahl The MSSA is working to provide a unified voice to preserve and protect the rights, traditions and the future of recreational fishing. NO UNITY - NO VOICE - NO FISH ! Our November 17th meeting will be our last meeting in 2005. We don’t have a meeting in the month of December. Where has the year gone to? Fishing is all Rockfish in our area. There are plenty of Rockfish, most are under size; however more legal fish are showing up. I miss catching Trout and Bluefish when out jigging for Rockfish, but it looks like there are only Rockfish to catch. The later fish just aren’t here.
FISHING TRIPS Nine Dorchester County Chapter members went to Ocean City on October 26th to fish for Black Sea Bass aboard the Ocean Princess. What a beautiful day it was to fish on the ocean! It just couldn’t get any better. There were plenty of Sea Bass caught, in fact about everyone limited out with 25 fish per person. Bob Geisler won the largest fish pool with a Bluefish. If you have never eaten Black Sea Bass, you have missed one of the best-tasting fish that swims in the water. I just love them for I have them for supper and breakfast.
We have had a lot of Chapter fishing trips in 2005. On November 16th, there is a trip scheduled out of Bowers Beach, Delaware for Tog, Rockfish and whatever bites. If you are missing out going on these fishing trips, you’re missing out on a lot of fun and fishing. FLEA MARKET Our flea market is scheduled to take place on February 25th, 2006 at the American Legion. I’m talking about the flea market early because I want all of our members to start saving items for the Club’s tables. When you clean out our boat and tackle boxes, you will find things you never used this year. If you didn’t use it this year, it’s likely that you won’t next year. Donate these items to the Club. If you have a lot of items, get your own table. We need your support for this event covers all our yearly expenses. CHRISTMAS PARTY NANTICOKE INN, SATURDAY, DECEMBER 10TH 6:00 P.M. Our Chapter party will be held in Vienna this year at the Nanticoke Inn on December 10th at 6:00 p.m. This will be served buffet style at a cost of $15 per person. The Club will pick up the tip. The menu is: salad bar, roast beef, fried chicken, fried shrimp, crab dip, baked potato, corn pudding, baked pineapple, macaroni and cheese, iced tea, coffee and dessert. Dessert will be a choice of different assorted pies, cakes and ice cream. We will be served in our own large room and don’t forget the Club is picking up the tip. Be at our November meeting to sign up or call Jesse Maffuid (410-228-1756) by Friday, December 2nd for that is the cutoff date. We need to know how many are going to attend. Mike and Carolyn German are having their annual party before our Christmas party at their house on Laurie Lane, Woolford, Maryland. Be certain and let Mike and Carolyn know if you will be at their home for this event (410-228-6384 or 410-221-0077). These parties are a great way to complete our year as a fishing club MSSA DORCHESTER.COM Our web site is doing great and a lot of people are getting their newsletter online. I have one fear that these people also are forgetting to go online to get this information. I will be sending every member a newsletter three times a year as a reminder about our web site and the information available on that site. Getting your newsletter online saves us a lot of postage expense and we need more members to get their newsletter that way. Let me know how this system is working for you. $100.00 DRAWING To reward the people who attend out monthly meetings, we have $100.00 that is given away at our May and November meetings. We will be giving $100.00 away at the November meeting. This is our last meeting of the year, so be there to pick up your $100.00. GUEST SPEAKER Lenny Rudow, author of “Rudow’s Guide To Fishing The Chesapeake” will be our speaker this month. Lenny also writes many articles for “Fishermen’s Magazine”. Lenny writes about all the areas in the Chesapeake on how to fish and the techniques and equipment to use. If you have a favorite fishing area, Lenny should be able to help you out. This is a meeting you shouldn’t miss.
AGAIN, THERE IS NO MEETING IN DECEMBER
See you at the meeting or on the water.
